The trend argument holds, with one caveat worth adding: a trend on a single metric can move the right way for the wrong reason. Faros AI tracked 22,000 developers across 4,000 teams and found task throughput per developer up 33.7% while median code review time rose 441.5%. Benchmark either number alone and you get a story. LinearB's 8.1 million pull requests give the same shape: AI-assisted PRs merge within 30 days 32.7% of the time against 84.5% unassisted. The trend that actually tells you something is the ratio between what a team generates and what it ships, tracked against itself. That is the version of benchmarking nobody can wave off as not applying to them.
