About Engineering Enablement

Engineering Enablement is a newsletter from DX’s research team about measuring and improving software health, developer productivity, and AI-human collaboration. It’s highly relevant for those working in internal-facing Platform, Developer Productivity, and AI enablement teams.

Every week, we summarize research, share findings from our own studies, or highlight how engineering leaders are navigating the shift to AI-native software development.

About the authors

Brian Houck

I’m Brian Houck, an Applied Scientist at DX focused on understanding and improving the developer experience within engineering organizations. I co-authored the SPACE framework, now one of the most widely adopted approaches for measuring developer productivity worldwide, and my research continues to guide engineering and policy decisions across the industry.

Today, I’m especially focused on understanding how AI is transforming the developer experience, when it accelerates flow, when it adds cognitive load, and how organizations can responsibly amplify its benefits.

Justin Reock

I’m Justin Reock, the Deputy CTO at DX, a developer intelligence platform. I am an engineer, speaker, writer, and software practice evangelist with over 20 years of experience working in various software roles.

I deliver enterprise solutions, technical leadership, various publications and community education on developer experience and productivity.

Abi Noda

I’m Abi Noda, a programmer and researcher focused on helping leaders measure and improve developer productivity. As the CEO of DX, I have the privilege of working with some of the world’s most iconic companies, providing them with the data they need to better understand their organizations and measure the impact of their efforts to improve.

Previously, I held CTO roles at several companies and was the founder and CEO of Pull Panda (acquired by GitHub in 2019).
